ELIE SAAB 2O12

If you thought they wearing something blue, emerald green, vibrance color over last season would be the end of the trend for vibrance of colour, think again... In Elie Saab's Spring Summer 2012 show it was all about the vibrancy of colors and ripple of matte sequins . It began with a blank canvas, literally, a series of clean white looks upon which Saab's colorful vision was built, quickly evolving to bursts of ocre, peach, emerald green and lapis blue.

This season, Saab continued his push with daywear, showing a strong selection of separates, from cap-sleeved chiffon dresses to a perfectly cut, deep purple-blue pantsuit; feminine, sensual pleated crêpe georgette and lace layering on skirts. A kind of geometric element ran throughout the detailing in the form of sheer crisscross panels, and pussy-bowed mustard skirt and blouse ensembles touched ever so lightly upon this season's love affair with the Roaring Twenties.

True to his aesthetic of evening elegance, Saab's daywear also included a selection of diaphanous gowns as well as a spectrum of feminine detailing, such as precise cutouts and lace inserts, so as to offer up his own more dressed-up definition of daywear.

For evening, the Saab girl truly came out to play, as the designer turned out a host of gowns guaranteed to delight his celebrity fan base. A plunge-front ripple of matte sequins cascading down a backless evening column or a billow of lightweight chiffon caftan in breathtaking emeralds, marigolds and amethysts drew breaths from the crowd. When it comes to a bit of razzle dazzle on the red carpet, no one knows how to keep them coming back season after star-studded season like Mr. Elie Saab.
